The genre we are going for this assignment, is quite similar to explore. Instead this time we are exploring Queensland Kangaroo Point, showcasing the view of the city and the park. There are several virtual tours available that showcase the beauty of Kangaroo Point. These tours provide a 360-degree view of the location, capturing the city’s skyline, the tranquil Brisbane River, and the lively energy that fills the air.

Kangaroo Point offers a variety of activities that will be highlighted in this project. These include star gazing, river walk, picnic and rock climbing.

According to the latest tourism data, Kangaroo Point has seen a significant increase in visitor expenditure, reaching an all-time high. In the year to June 2023, visitors spent a record-high amount, well surpassing the region’s target set for December 2025. This indicates that Kangaroo Point is becoming an increasingly popular destination for tourists.
Moreover, the unique experiences offered at Kangaroo Point, such as rock climbing, kayaking, and bridge climbing, along with its proximity to the city center, make it an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Our History - Corporate - Tourism Australia

In terms of population, the 2021 Census data shows that the population of Kangaroo Point was 9,761. If we were to see a similar surge in tourism as the Gold Coast experienced, it would indeed have a significant impact on the local economy and community.

VR can revolutionize tourism advertising by providing immersive destination experiences, supporting customer buying decisions, and increasing publicity. It offers a ‘try before you buy’ option, allowing potential tourists to virtually explore destinations. For your project, a VR tour of Kangaroo Point could showcase its attractions in an engaging way, enhancing the overall tourism advertisement and potentially driving economic growth within the global tourism landscape. This innovative approach could place you at the forefront of the tourism industry.
The History Of Virtual Tour
Virtual tourism has a fascinating history that dates back to the late 1800s with the advent of panoramic photographs. These photos, taken from high vantage points using special cameras, were often used to capture landscapes or cityscapes, and sometimes even stitched together to create 360-degree views.Over the years, virtual reality tourism technologies have evolved, primarily used as an educational tool allowing users to engage with the history, geography, and cultural aspects of a location, serving as a substitute for physical visitation.

The COVID-19 pandemic marked a critical moment in the rise of virtual reality tourism and the digitization of culture. With travel restrictions in place, countries had to rethink their tourism industries, and virtual tourism provided a way to keep the industry alive.
