Strength & Weakness
In terms of strengths, this project excels in creating an immersive and realistic audio environment. By utilizing spatial audio, I was able to enhance the viewer’s sense of presence within the scene, thereby making the overall viewing experience more engaging. This was achieved through the precise placement of sounds in the audio mix, which created a sense of direction and distance. For instance, in some scenes where a fridge is being opened, the sound appears closer or further from the viewer. By adjusting the “Open fridge” audio with the audio mixer, I was able to create a spatial sound that accurately represents the distance. Also making the audio in a certain direction, like left or right.
In terms of weaknesses, I had hoped that we could have recorded the “Checkout.wav” audio using a different object, rather than recording it in Woolworth. As for the “Background Talking.wav” audio, it was also recorded inside Woolworth. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough people to create the impression of a bustling environment. This approach makes it much harder to edit the distance and direction, since when recording both sounds was in one audio. However, I’m confident that given more time, we could have devised an alternative solution.

In Adobe Premiere Pro, I encountered an issue with the video where a small black void appears below the viewer’s perspective, which can potentially impact the viewing experience. This issue might be attributed to the format (Ambisonics).
What could be improved?
I believe that the overall experience of this video/audio could be significantly enhanced by incorporating voice lines for the speech bubbles and adding sound effects when the speech bubbles appear. This auditory cue would guide the viewer’s attention towards the storyline. It would create a more immersive and interactive experience, seamlessly blending the visual and auditory elements to enrich the narrative flow.
