Critical Evaluation

Strength & Weakness

Strengths

My biggest strength is effectively using the 3D mechanism to adjust the text’s position and chosen a suitable font for each scene. The addition of a shadow to the white text, which could have otherwise blended with the background, shows my attention to detail and understanding of visual contrast. And the use of the “Fade Up Characters” preset for text animation adds a dynamic element to the scenes, enhancing viewer engagement.

Conceptually, the idea of targeting tourists by using the top three most widely spoken languages globally - English, Chinese, and Japanese - is a strategic move. It broadens the reach of my spatial video, making it accessible to a diverse audience. The choice of activities showcased also provides a comprehensive view of what Kangaroo Point has to offer, adding to the video’s appeal.

Weaknesses

On the technical front, there were challenges with the export process when incorporating a speech bubble. This indicates a potential area for further exploration and understanding of the software’s capabilities and limitations. While the video caters to a broad audience, it might lack a personal touch or localized appeal that could resonate with domestic tourists or locals.

What could be improved?

To enhance the technical aspects, you could explore other features of Adobe After Effects or similar software to find alternative solutions to the speech bubble export issue. Continuous learning and staying updated with new software updates and features can help overcome such technical challenges.Conceptually, to make the video more engaging, consider incorporating local anecdotes, history, or culture-related content. This could provide a richer, more immersive experience for the viewers. Additionally, consider using subtitles or closed captions for the non-English languages. This would ensure the content is accessible to non-native speakers of Chinese and Japanese, further expanding your audience reach.
